My recently acquired Z16, has a problem with the trunk latch. The motor unlocks the trunk, and I can pick the whole thing open reaching between the body panel and the trunk with my fingertips.
Anybody else have this issue? I know the motor is moving something mechanical because I can see it move with the trunk lid open.
My old C5 did this same thing but would eventually open the hatch with repeated clicks of the clicker.
Sounds familiar and a common problem. A forum search will reveal many threads on this. I took the easy way out and ordered from c5trunkpopper.com and I'm very happy with the results.
You dont need the spring. Open your trunk and theres a spring in the latch motor thats probably bent doen over repeated use. Take some pliers and bend it back up and the problem is solved.
It looks like a round metal bar going across the opening where the trunk latch goes (you may have to push the carpet away from the mechanism to see it). Bend that round rod (it's actually the spring that raises your trunk) back up.

Had the same problem when I bought mine in December, rebent the spring as described and it fixed mine. Works great now.

This sounds like one of the first things I will get after tomorrow when I get to moving around. Will post my results back tomorrow.

I was talking about the spring in the original latch, not the aftermarket helper spring.
