I bought my vette 2 summers ago and it came with a battery tender already installed. Right now it is being stored for the second winter since I've owned it. Last spring she started up like a champ after having the tender on all winter. Today, I went out to do some cleaning and install a k&n filter. I touched the alternator and got mildly shocked!!!! I also touched that metal cylider thing that sticks out of the fuel rail covers over the intake manifold and got shocked. Obviously I've unplugged it but has anyone heard of this?? I am still a few weeks away from having good enough weather to start driving it so I did not want to attempt to start it. Could this ruin the computer? I am really worried so any insight here would be VERY helpful. Please help me out here.
thanks!

I think the electronics in the C5 are tuff. I am not sure what metal thing sticking out of the frc you are talking about. You say you touched the alt case and got shocked? If that is the case you have something wrong for sure.
A "real" battery tender should hook up to the battery, and have nothing to do with anything else. If it is just hooked up to the battery, the other shocks should'nt have anything to do with the tender.

Trace the wiring to and from the tender. Sounds like the wiring may have worn a bare spot and electrifying some of the metal parts. Sounds like it would be in the tender to battery line, because it sounds like 12 volts. 110 would have blown your circuit breaker!!
thanks for the responses guys. I am going to trace the wires on the tender-thanks for the good advice. I am still not going to start the car as it will be sitting for at least another couple of weeks (we got another 3-4" inches of snow today )
I know the 'shocks' are directly related to the tender as I didn't get shocked when I unplugged it from the wall.
I spoke with my dad about this and we are thinking there is a possibility it could be a grounding issue in the entire garage.
I will let you know what I find out about the tender
