I have an annoying problem with my car and don't know what it is attributed to. When I sit in it, my hud is a bit off center compared to the reflection in the glass from the opening. Does that make sense? The display isn't dead on center unless I adjust the way I sit. But, not only that, when I correct my seating angle so i'm looking dead on, it seems like while driving the car has a slight pull to the right like it's not aligned correctly. I've had it aligned many times with no change in the way it behaves too.
I was thinking the rear thrust angle could be out too, but everytime I get it aligned I get the same feeling like I there's more tension in turns to the left versus right. What could be wrong? Is there a way to tell if a shock goes bad? Could that do it? I know I haven't hit anything or bent anything to do this because i'm sure after getting computer aligned many times, someone would've told me.
How can you check for a bad shock? These are also Bilstein Sports that probably have about 20,000 mi. on them. Lowered on cut front bolts and longer rears.
I've heard of bouncing the car on each corner to see if it rebounds, but does that really work?
As far as the HUD goes,,the pins that it pivots on may be on their way out. Tgey are not very big or robust and it is not uncommon for them to start cracking and then fail all together. Mine has dropped out of sight! There are threads on how to get to it. I'm going to have to learn how to get in there and attempt a fix myself!

I've heard of that. Although I understand it falling and not being able to see it. I don't see how it would affect the horizontal angle. I've looked at my dash from up top and it looks fine to me as far as the mirror goes. Don't know..
The other thing about the HUD, is that I have always had the impression that it is not perfectly "on center". Clearance issues, combined with "on center" being so hard to define. I suspect you have two issues, where you are sensitive to the look of the HUD, which has led to this other suspension related issue,
I suppose one simple thing you could check since you have yours is lowered, is park it on a flat area, then use a yard stick and measure the front wheel wells to the ground, then do the same for the rears. I suppose that would insure the car riding the same on the sides. A bad shock would cause problems and some old-school methods to check them do work but not always. Pushing on the one corner and releasing it.. if it bounces more than once, its bad. If its leaking fluid, its bad. A sideways test will also show them bad if the car shakes from side to side. Usually shocks last about 40K miles and past that, their lifespan is limited. A high quality one may last longer but hey, nothing lasts forever. A lot depends on how those miles were put on it, so there's no blanket statement for age/performance. The HUD has a single adjustment on it other than the normal operations. That single adjustment is on its mounting under the dash cover and its unlikely to have moved. Yes, it could have, but again, unlikely.
