battery contacts if you are having electrical gremlins! For months, I could ot figure out why my interior lights and headlights are dimming at night when I brake. Also, voltage drops dramatically from 14 down to 12. I checked my connections, took off the battery, put it back on, did it again and again.(battery was good) Same problem. SO I took the battery out again and this time, saw a little crud build up in the positive. Took a brush cleaned it out and bingo! problem solved. I could not believe that a minute amount of crud can cause such havoc!
I took a lot of time last Sunday to go through both my battery and about 4 grounds on the car after having read a good thread/sticky on the Tech forum by Bill, I forget his last name.
The first easy step was I took the battery out. On the car's battery cable, there was some green corrosion, enough to cause an issue for sure. I Scotchbrited it up and a little dielectric grease. I also put a computer mouse pad under the battery and made sure it was nice and tight when I put the battery hold-down back and torqued the 13mm bolt down well.
There is a ground closer to the engine, there were 2 more of these grounds in the engine bay, I took them all off, scotchbrited them a little, dielectric grease the terminals, did the ground behind the drivers side rear wheel and that was it. At least I do not have to worry about those grounds anymore if there might be an issue.
