Someone mentioned that a lot of things on the forum are bad things people are looking for help to fix. Take for instance, theres a whole pile of threads talking about the bad steering column lock. A lot of us are worried about getting stuck somewere, and maybe we should be.
I just bought a 2001 6 spd with only 2900 miles on it, and the only recall thats been done is the first reprogram. A guy in Minneapolis whose been making a living fixing Corvettes since 1963. told me not to worry as long as the reprogram was done. What i would like to know is how many of us have never HAD a problem with the column lock??
I had the problem while on vacation in Florida. My advice , don't chance it, spend $50 and 30 minutes and avoid any possibility of the problem. Those that think the recall will work have been proven wrong over and over agian on this forum.

I have read a lot of threads where the GM recall only worked for a while, If it were me I would get the CLB, If it does happen it will be at the most inconvient time, Cheap insurance...

I had the message a couple times, but the car started and worked just fine after a minute. I have since then paid the $40+ to have it done right. Why risk it?
We have not had the steering column lock problem on our 2000, now with 39,000 miles because when we bought the car with 14,000 miles the CLB was the first thing I did!!
