thank you all for the support. ya last weekend i ran against a c6 with a ls2 and i would be up ahead in the 1st 3/4 of the track until the end and he would pull away. but i felt good losing to a fellow vette owner
even if he put 50k into that evo, it would still never beat a vette on a road course unless he put the body on a corvette frame lol. a corvette is a race car, and the evo is basically a grocery getter with a turbo. i could drop 10k into an 85 pontiac station wagon and probably make it beat a vette in a straight line, but it will always be a station wagon. This is why you never see these ricers winning le mans races. The handling, aerodynamics, braking, body weight distribution, reliability, top speed, etc, etc is all inferior to the corvette. there is a big difference between a 4 banger turbo ricer some kid built that lasts for 6 months until it blows up and a race car with the same power that lasts for 500k miles. There is ABSOLUTELY NO ricer that can compare to even a late c4 corvette on a race track. You can drop 10k into a ricer and make it beat a vette in a straight line, but no mods even exist to make it handle as good as a vette. There is nothing you could ever do to a ricer to make it as good as a vette. This is why a corvette costs more... end of story.

^^ Have you ever been on a road course with your vette? Doesn't sound like it by the blanket statements you just made.
EVO's are VERY capable cars and respond well to mods, just like the vette does. They are however in two completly different catagories. One is a true sports car (2dr, v8, rwd) and the other is a "sporty" car (awd & turbo). Still though, to say one can NEVER beat the other is a bit far fetched. I've shown the tail lights on my EVO to many a vette on the road course and also shown the same to many an EVO in my vette.
These little EVO Ricers are fast, but that does not say much. Its a Econo box with a price tag well into the $30,000 market and NOT worth a penny of it. You can mod a Accord to beat a Corvette but what does that mean?? It is what it is, A Econo Box. Tell Him to get lost.
Yes and you can mod a vette to beat a lambo but what does that mean?? It is what it is at the end of the day you are in a vette other guys in a lambo. Jesus christ enough with that argument already. Different strokes for different folks. Evos are VERY capable cars whether some of you like them or not.
