Default Exhaust plate Question

I got one for Christmas and waiting for warm weather to install it. It appears it is only held on with the two sided tape. Is this enough, or is there something extra to add and make sure it does not come off. Hate to loose such an attractive extra on the car.

3m dbl sided tape is pretty strong stuff that being said a couple dabs of silicone sealant will give you some peace of mind thats what i did and you still will be able to remove it if need be:thumbs :

Thoroughly clean and dry the area where your attaching the double sided tape and it will hold it until the day you decided to pull off. You would be amazed with the strength of the double sided tape if you've never used it before.

If it is a little cold out, clean off the area really well with acetone or laquer thinner, let dry. Get a hair dryer and apply some heat to the tape on the plate (cover still on), then to the area you are going to stick it to.

Does not have to be hot at all. Just warm it up, remove the tape cover, place it and stick it. Be sure you get it right the first time, cause it will stick really good! Then, for extra confidence factor, hold the hair dryer up to the plate and get it good and warm, push and sort of wiggle the plate in place. It ain't goin anywhere......

Good Luck ------>

I'd wait until it's warm out, super clean the area then hoe it down with denatured alcohol. When your ready to stick it on make sure you've lined it up because it's not coming off very easily.

Install it now! Heat the area with a blow dryer then use the alcohol to clean the area. Forget the silicone, you don't need it, the 3M tape is very strong. Install it and enjoy!!!

I realized just how strong that stuff is when I tried to take my moulding off of my z71 pickup. It took me like a week, and I destroyed every piece of trim I pulled off

If it is like the tape on mine it is some strong stuff. I didn't use anything but the dbl sided tape and cleaned the area before installing it. It hasn't moved in over six years and 50K miles so I think it is pretty good.
