Corbeau Seats?
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I installed these because tech was giving me a hard time about not having a slot for my submarine belt. So, I added the slot to the seat order. I already have a Simpson Camlock black 5-point harness installed on the driver's side.
About the install…
The first attempt to install did not go well. The seat recliner mechanism did not fit against the stock C5 seat belt mechanism (down near the floor, towards the rear of the door). So, to accommodate that, I reversed the seats, placing the seat recline mechanism inside, next to the tunnel. This makes for a very tight fit to get your hand down to adjust the seat, but it fits.
The A4s are wider than stock where the roll bar comes down next to the door. Therefore, my side roll bar presses against the seat and will eventually wear it down. It makes it a bit difficult to lock the roll bar in place (it uses a pin). So, this is something I will have to live with.
And, once done with the seat swap, I found that my telescopic steering wheel control no longer worked. I have to assume that this is tied into the stock seat electronics / memory and, with the stock seats removed, it stopped working. Luckily, I had it in the position I use and rarely use telescopic wheel. I’m sure that if I did some research I could find a way to wire it to work.
About the color: Although they are called “black/grey”… They are closer to black/white and I’m a bit worried they will stain easily. So, I coated them in Scotch Guard, hoping that will prevent some stains.
Now they are in and I’ll pass through tech without an issue. They look good (still brand new of course) – And, I like adding some color to my all black interior. They are also very comfortable and hold you in place.
So, although this sounds more negative than positive, for my purposes, I found the A4s to be a decent solution, within my budget and a nice interior upgrade.
