Sure did take me by surprise, how did they do that???
I was initially led to it by my brother, who said it is proven on the dyno for 10 hp...
So in went the 6.5 quarts of 5w30 at $7.89/qt; now off to the track to get my improved qm time as I pass by the gas stations laughing cause of my better mpg...

First time I saw it being poured out of the bottle, I was surprised, too!
I have it in both of my cars, and it seems to be a great product. One of these days, when a lift is available and we aren't so busy, I'm going to have the rest of the fluids changed and refill with RP.
It doesn't stay purple very long though. I ran it in my wife's car a few years ago and was surprised to find that after idling the engine for 30 seconds and then shutting it off to check the level, it looked like normal oil on the dipstick, with no hint of the purple whatsoever.

Ok now something is fishy, what are they puttin in this oil, the left over smurfs?
I just got back from Texas about a month ago from buying a truck from the son of the guy who invented Royal Purple. Very nice family BTW they let me stay the night in their guest house on their Ranch before I drove back to Indiana. Very nice place they had if you could imagine.
Anyway, he was telling me the way to do a true Royal Purple oil change is to change the oil with royal purple start the Engine, let it run for about 5 mins and then Change the oil again. He said they the oil will suck all of the dirt and grim out of the engine in a matter of minutes and come out pure black. Then you are supposed to fill it back out with the Purple Royal Purple and you good to go.
I managed for him to give me enough RP he had sitting in his barn for an oil and trany change for the DMAX I bought from him and plan on switching the Vette over next time I have it up on the lift as well.

If you go from another oil it will be black due to being contaminated from the old oil. After running RP for a year straight (with regular changes of course) it was still purple after 5K miles.
That sounds like a great marketing ploy to sell more product...
I agree that it would be costly and a way for them to sell more oil. Its what he said is the way to get the best results and life/performance out of you engine, if you want to do it right.
