I was at the Central Florida Corvette Club "Corvettes in the Sunshine" show on Saturday in Crystal River, FL. The wind was blowing all day long and gusting up to 35mph most of the afternoon. The junk blowing off the trees was getting into everything. We had to keep the windows, trunk/hatches and hoods closed until we saw the judges coming our way. Sucked
We could not keep the cars clean at all.
At one point I had to catch my tent as one of the gusts almost blew it into my car. Luckily some of the guys helped me take it down. I was really impressed how it held up to the wind most of the morning and even considered taking it down just to be cautious. I waited just a little too long then mother nature took over. The other vendors followed suit when mine came down.
All in all I met some great folks, made some new friends and prospects.
I was in the 97-00 class and there were some great cars in there with me. The judges even said it was a tough field. They found dirt BEHIND the spokes on my wheels. I took third place and so did the C6 next to me whose wife spent all day constantly cleaning their car.
(Dirt behind the spokes also) Who even thinks to clean back there
I was a nice sunny day but the wind sucked
You can see my tent kind of leaning to the left..that was the direction of the constant wind all day.
I was fried when I got home and I was under the tent and a tree all day.
Windburn
Now I have another place to clean for the next show.
That is one of the nicest 3rd place trophies I have seen. Yeap judges look at some strange spots, had them check the exhaust pipe, muffler, under the seat by moving forward, anything to take points. Stay on your toes and think of how many did not place at all.
