Default Console cover latch

Console cover latch broke shortly after I bought the car but it wasn't a big deal so I let it go. Then it started to bug me. Dealer said he couldn't find it in the parts list (anyone know if that is true?), and although I found several on the forum off salvage cars, the prices ranged from $20 - $25 plus shipping. Just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for something that was used and likely to break again. Found a guy on the auction that sells them for $13.99 buy it now and starts bids at $12.99 plus $3.99 shipping. Got mine today, it is identical to the OEM part, pops right in, works perfectly.

depends which part broke I guess
I'd be hesitant to glue it because if it broke again it'd be more difficult to change

That was one of the reasons I moved my fuel door switch....less wear and tear on the hinge.

Where did you put it? Can you maybe post a photo?

Same thing happened to me; the mechanism in the 'female' portion of the latch would collapse, so the lid wouldn't close. I tried to pry the mechanism back up, but it would just collapse again the next time I used it. Eventually the thing broke. I ordered a new latch assembly from Davie's Corvette (~$25), popped it in, and it works perfectly. Although that might seem like a lot to pay for such a small piece, IMHO having the latch function properly was worth it.

I was at the parts shop today and it was over $30 for the female part. Nice find on ebay but I think I am just going to epoxy mine in so the same problem doesn't occur with the new one later down the road.
