Need to replace the dreaded key fob...I think. First I want to try the battery and need to know which one. I know its a 3 volt, but I see there are different numbers. Can anyone tell me what is the correct battery for a `98 fob? Thanks.....
The one that's in it should work fine. Just take it with you when you go to buy one.
BTW got a new FOB awhile back from Gene Culley GM Parts, about $60 bucks for my year. He has a sale going on now, I saw a post here today. Lists the year and price if you scan through his sale.....supporting vendor here too
I just got a 3v energizer says CR2450 for my old one. Was the right size and would set the FOB but then fob would stop working after awhile so i bought the new fob.....no trouble now. If you hold down the lock & unlock together till you hear a chirp it's supposed to reset it i believe.
I would think any 3v would work if it's the same size that fits. My car is a 2000 and it looks like it is a different FOB, but maybe the same battery.
Just found this link, you might want to check it out.....there is a pic if you scroll down.....might be worth a try. Hadn't seen it before, going to try it on my old fob.
