I know, this is about performance and that's what I want. I got my new wheels, Z06 size, 17x9.5, 18x10.5. I need some tires now. I go to the track about once a year, 2004 Corvette Vert, headers, 373 gears, 2800 stall converter, car won't hook up, couldn't give it any gas until about 100 feet out, ran 12.72 @110mph with a 1.90 60' . with runcraps. Want something better to hook up. But I like to go to the mountains and take the curves so I am scared about Drag Radials. Don't know much about the new ones. Do I get an autocross tire, Drag Radial, or just some street tire with a softer compound? I want some hook up, go high speed and take some curves. what do you guys suggest? Please respond I have to do this soon, it's getting nice out and I've got to drive.....bob.

If you're not making a ton of power, a good set of street tires should suit you. Something like a GSD3 or something. Now, I will say that I personally overpowered my GSD3's and went to a Nitto Drag Radial, and other than a little less confidence in wet conditions (and a LOT less confidence in a downpour), my nittos have been QUITE inspiring in the corners I've put them through.
Cheap pair of rims and some drag radials and you will be fine Try MT 305 35 18 DR if you have a 6 speed just don't get crazy when you let the clucth fly try 2500-3000 RPM and you should improve your time a few tents

Something like the GS-D3 tires would be good for the road. As for the track, the suggestion of a spare set of wheel and some drag radials sounds about right.
I went with the Nitto 555 R2's in 305/35/18 in the back and the Nitto NT-05, 275/40/17 in the front. I'll let you know how it works out. Right now it just snowed in Michigan so I'll do a little more work on the Vette..... Thanks to all......bob.
