I saw a big SUV along side of me at the stoplight this morning, didn't think much about it. I pulled away from the light a little bit spirited, about 1/8 of the pedal and got up to 42 by the time I was in 3rd. Kept it at 42 to the next light. Speed limit was 40. Said SUV (police) pulled up along side and said to slow down. I was trying to figure out why, but maybe he figured it was to fast of a launch. Told him Yes Sir and we drove off. The price of owning a Vette I suppose.

We have cops here in unmarked SUVs. Plain clothes and the hang around the school zones. You just never know.
I have thankfully been warned a few times. I guess some know us well enough to know that eventually most of us will "enjoy" our cars. Just a friendly reminder. I am always polite and thank them.
I did get pulled over in my CTS last week and asked why I had been in the HOV lane. I told the offficer I was never in the HOV lane - which was true. He replied, "OK, guess I got the wrong car" and away we went.
anything faster than a stock geo metro accelerating is considered spirited and frowned upon, but when law enforcement does it, its ok.
As long as you didn't bark your tires there is absolutely no need for him to have said anything....he must have had a fight with the misses that morning and was looking for some way to exert him authority over someone. I guess he could have actually pulled you over and given you a ticket for 42 in a 40 if he really wanted to.

You just never know. That's the down-side of owning a vette. Was nice of him not to bother stopping you and delaying your flight.
Why would you even push the speedlimit at all with the police in the next car?
It was not the price of owning a Corvette. It was about having the priviledge of driving on public streets.
The speed limit was 40, you were going 42, and you cannot understand why he asked you to hold your speed down? If they wanted the limit to be 42, they would have made it 42.

I hope I don't come up on you in the left lane somewhere...

Heck last week I got popped for 78 in a 60 MPH construction zone. Only thing is I was only doing 70. He cut me a break and wrote it for 69. The original fine was $385. the new one is $144. And again this was in the Jeep and not the Vette. I gotta get rid of that ticket magnet.
