Well I decided to go with a new clutch since the stocker is bound to go sooner or later. I toasted it a bit the other day and it is still alive but just a matter of time. I really haven't been able to drive the car like I want since the cam install and have been milking it so I can make it last. I said screw it and ordered a new Monster clutch. They are getting great reviews on some of the other forums and I figured that I would give it a shot. First of all the price is right and they say stage 3 will hold 700 hp/tq so I should be good to go. I really hope that the drivability of this thing is everything they say it is because I haven't heard ONE negative review out of dozens! Is it possible? An affordable clutch that holds what it claims and is a pleasure to drive? The guys at Williams Performance in NC will be putting it in next week so I will report back with my observations in a couple of weeks.
No I am going to go with the chromoly flywheel. It weighs in at 15 lbs. so it should take a little getting used to but I don't take the car to the track. It is more of a street car and I really enjoy tearing up backwoods winding roads here. I hope I like it!

Getting ready to install a Monster Stage 3 this weekend. I am not looking forward to this but it has to be done. We are at about the same place with the stocker that you are. Just babying it at this point so the car will last till the clutch is installed.
I installed my level 3 monster with chromoly flywheel last weekend(not a lot of fun). pedal pressure feels like stock. I'v only driven the car 3 or 4 times and the clutch feels kinda grabby but I think it's just because it's not broke in yet.
Yeah, I have heard it is kinda grabby at first but gets better very quickly with very minimal chatter. None, after a short while. I will post back in this thread after I get this thing in. Glad to see others are going this route too.
Well the clutch is in and as usual Bob at Williams Performance did an outstanding job with the install. They were impressed with the clutch and the flywheel particularly. Chromoly was 10 pounds lighter than the stocker and I absolutely LOVE it! Paired with my cam 236/240 .610 112 it is more friendly than the stocker. I used to have a little sluggishness from 1800-2200 range but not bad. Now with this flywheel the motor revs much quicker and that seems to have been decreased. Anyway, this clutch feels like stock, no joke. The release is the same distance from the floor as stock and grabs like it should. There is some chatter in first from a dead stop but not much. It should go away soon, but keep in mind I have only put 60 miles on it since the install with minimal around town. I will continue to update as I get more miles on it and post back up.
Also, my shipping got screwed up pretty bad from the vendor I ordered it from and Steve Addison at SNL Performance in TX totally hooked me up. He is the owner of Monster clutches and he overnighted, yes you heard correctly overnighted my clutch to the shop for a Saturday delivery so the shop so they could work on it first thing. That is service!

We have Stage 3 installed and have about 530 miles on it so far. My son is happy with it in his car. We were impressed with the billet flywheel also. Nice piece and much lighter than the stocker. I would say he is well pleased with it. The install was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Thanks for the review, I was on the fence about which clutch to go with but was leaning towards the Monster level 3 as well. I am going to have Williams Performance put mine in too.
It is a great clutch and I am very happy with it. If I were doing it again I would order straight from Monster Clutch though and not through a vendor. Good luck.
I ordered through Mike (VetteRod-LSX on this forum noted below) and got the best service I have ever had from anyone on here. He chatted with me on the phone for an hour about all sorts of Vette technical stuff I was asking him about as well, and he called me afterwards to make sure I got everything ok and was happy with it. We have even chatted several times on phone since the sale just to chit chat about tech stuff.
I had my clutch, flywheel, slave, bleeder, release bearing, pilot and ARP bolts shown in my picture below all within 4 days at a price lower than if I ordered from MC direct. If anyone wants to give him a shout his name is Mike Yeager under CF name:

who did you order it thru? cause if it was from mike, id like to know why you wouldnt order from him again, he was very nice and up front when i ordered mine
Since you asked, yes it was Mike and I will never do business with him again. Worst vendor I have ever dealt with in all my car modding days. Total juvenile. Just call Steve Addison directly because he is the owner and will treat you right.
