Disassembling a Traction Control Swt-Help
Going to paint the console.....Down to traction control swt....Simple questions: 1. Removed circuit board, how does one remove the over-engineered clear plastic button retainer? and 2. How did you remove the LED, needle nose pliers and twist. This piece cost $70 from the dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

The clear plastic wave guide is held in by a plastic peg that has been melted on top. You might be able to drill the top of the peg out, just enough to free the wave guide and then glue it back in...
I use small needle nose pliers to remove the stock bulbs, which are incandescents BTW.
Another option is to totally remove the wave guide and install an LED into the backside of the button;

BTW: Have been amused that GM's method of assembly of plastic parts has been to melt them together......
