Default How oftem do you change your oil?

purchased my vette in october and now the weather is changing I have just had the oil changed. My question is how often do I need to change my oil every 3000 miles or longer? or if I do not reach the mileage due to this not being my daily driver can the car set and not worry about it. First car that I put synthetic in and was just wondering.

I put about 2000 miles per year. I change it once a year. I have read that some use the oil life monitor as a gauge. I don't.

I use the oil life monitor on the DIC or every year. As you are aware the C5's use synthetic oil which may last longer then 3,000 mi8les.

I change mine once every six months no matter how many miles.
Not sure if it's true but I heard that synthetic oil lasts a little longer than regular.

I change mine at 50% on the DIC. Still usually over 3000 miles. I'm at about 2500 miles now and am at 78%.

Once a year on all four of my vehicles. That equates to abt. 7,000 miles on the "01Z06, "79 366cid ElCamino and 15,000 each on grand Cherokee and Avalon. Never an oil issue....

Once a year. My car is a weekend warrior so it doesn't get driven a whole lot. So for me once a year works.

I was changing my oil at about 4,500 miles, but my oil analysis shows above average lead wear, so I am planning to start changing the oil at least every 6 months.
Also I am not sure Mobil 1 quality is what it used to be, so I am going to try Valvoline Synpower which claims 9X better wear protection than Mobil 1.

DIC between 10 - 15% remaining. I've never let it go below 10%. Doesn't burn a drop as the dip stick is always at the same level.

GM says use the OLM to determine when to change oil unless you drive in a dusty environment or at least once per year or every 15K miles. There are people who will tell you the OLM monitor shouldn't be followed but they really don't know what they are talking about. It works great and I use it on all 3 of my GM vehicles. We aren't driving 1960's cars anymore.

I drive my Z about 4K miles per year with at least 1K on the track running at WOT with oil temps of 260 degrees for 30 minutes at a time. I run a quart over the full mark when on the track (GM recommended). Changing the oil each December the OLM indicates about 37% and the oil analysis I have done shows no unusual wear. In fact it is better than a lot of other cars that don't get run as hard. If you don't beat your car as hard as I do then you should definitely be able to follow GMs recommendations.

Twice a year, usually. Always before winter then mid summer if I've driven it hard or taken long trips first half of the season.
