Default Headlight door noise.

My right side headlight doesn`t open once in awhile, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries before it opens, so I opened it manually today & it works ok now but it makes a loud buzzing sound when it lowers for about 5 seconds or so. Anyone had this prob? Should I be worried? Thanks in advance.

hey Dennis.... don't be worried unless you have a stealership fix it. I had the same problem and they wanted 500$ to fix it. I fixed it in a little over an hour. You need to purchase a headlight motor repair kit. Whats happened is your gear that raises and lowers the light has a broken tooth or 4, lol. The new replacement gears seem to all be metal.... The kit is around 40$ so sigh relief my friend! Search, Junkman had agreat how to. Remember when you fix it though,,,,,, go through the top! You will be amazed how easy and quick it will be. pm me if have more questions. I would love to help! Heck you can even call. Im on a PS3 with no keyboard til the pc gets fixed.=]

Thanks for the reply! I`ll look into it. I`ve seen the kits in the mail order catalogs, I assume they come with instructions. You mean by going through the top you take the top cover off the door? I`ll try a search on it too. Thanks again!!

You are very welcome. Yes, thru the top you just take the headlight cover off while the light is up. Along with th shroud. You will end up letting the HL assemby hang in the cavity when you're working on the motor. The Junkman how to has LOTS of helpful pics so you'll know what to expect. Yes the kit will come w/insructions and everything you need except a stool!;]

I`m Ordering the bronze gear kit from Eckler`s . It looks like you get to the cover where the gear goes without taking anything off the car .Is that true? Just wondering what the epoxy in the kit is used for ? Thanks. Dennis

Hey Dennis. Pretty much all you will have to do is raise your hood and commence your small battle with the headlight assembly. You WILL have to completely remove the headlight motor... The epoxy is for re-attaching the gear cover when you have replace with the bronze gear. IF YOU HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA SNAP A PIC OF THE INSIDE OF THE MOTOR WHEN YOU FIRST REMOVE THE GEAR COVER FOR REFERENCE! You don't want to re-assemble backwards... When you re-assemble with the epoxy you can use two vise-grips to clamp down and let that baby set It's SO easy you will find yourself doin jdmvette's(Jason)R8 light mod or something!
