Default The vette amazed me again!

I had a record mpg for myself on the interstate last week. About a 65 mi stretch with the wind at my back doing 80-85 the whole way. I wish I could get this all the time!

i cant trust the mpg on mine any more after my mods. according to the DIC i am getting better mpg's after the mods, but the mileage and needle say otherwise. im really getting 14 around town and 27 on highway. doesnt matter, i can go 65-80 and still get 27mpg highway,

32 mpg Us....is common for me on the highway....I drove across Canada and averaged 31-32 mpg both on the DIC and by fuel consumption over 5300kms. In Saskatchewan......I didn't exactly adhere to the speed limit.

One tank of fuel, I actually got 868kms....and the low fuel warning wasn't lit when I stopped to get gas. I was doing about 65mph or 105kms/hr going thru northern ontario....now with fuel prices down....it's super economical to drive the Vette....way better than my Envoy...

Great MPG!! Even with the DIC optimistic "fudge factor" you were still getting great mileage. Seems most are around 1.4 "happy" in nice weather(cold is a bit worse). That would make it around a solid 33mpg. That is ONE of the reasons I wanted a C5. Took a trip years ago in a Ford Focus(St.Louis area to Great Falls Montana) With all the luggage,2 people and the higher speeds of the north west,,the poor thing could only average in the low/mid 20's!! Fellow club members told me their C5's were getting high 20's to low 30's under the same circumstances. Some shorter trips so far has proven that to be true for our 2000 FRC! We are thinking about doing the Great Falls trip again this summer. I hope so,,I want to see what she'll do!! Probably won't do quite as well as your #s but it will be better mpg and a hell of a lot more fun in the vet than that Focus!! You just have to love these cars,,,hot rod performance,,sports car handling,,,,AND econo car MPG!!!

I got C6 Z06 wheels and Wide Oval tires in December, then electric cutouts in March. I am not sure which one to blame it on, but my mpg is down a bit......but my spm (smiles per mile) has gone WAY UP.

I have been in a similar range multiple times on trips. A few times its been even better, but ideal conditions -- self only, no luggage, flat roads and not quite as fast.

Low weight, low aero drag, 6-speed overdrive, engine loafing = very good mileage.

All that and the joy of driving a vette. It's the good life.

BTW I also have a C6 and while it too is good on gas, my C5 is consistently better.

My DIC shows 27.4 these days. It was 26.8 the difference came after the VR Power duct and relocated MAF. Or my DIC got sick. No difference in my driving style which is pretty poor to be honest.

Unfortunately I havent been able to get that high of mpg again, I normally average about 32 on the hwy. The part that really surprised me is that I still get this good of mileage with the wider zo6 wheels and tires while running 80 mph

Wow thats awesome, you probably could have done even better if you were cruising at like 50-55. I did that in my GTO and averaged 34.5mpg so I know the lighter Vette could easily top that. Maybe even knocking on the door of 40mpg?
