Guys if you want to save some money I got 2 C6 tunnel plates and rivited them together to come out to be 1/4" thick (4 times thicker than a stock C5 plate), I went to the parts store and got ceramic header coating for $6 and did 4 coats and bolted it in to the car, NO more heat and DEF stiffer now . Cost was $100 less than buying a 1/4" coated plate from elseware. You can pick up C6 plates on the cheap used in the C6 for sale section. I was going to do 3 together but I figured 1/4" was more than enough.
For any of the plates you can put a couple layers of Dynamat Xtreme or similar to the inner side for more heat and sound control. While it is out it is the perfect time for that. Be sure the Dynamat is away from the edge where it bolts to the car to be sure of a good tight fit putting it back on.
I plunked down for an Elite Engineering Thermal Abs tunnel plate. Best move I've ever made. Even with the turbo's down low I'm not catching extra heat in the cabin.
I also have an Elite Engineering tunnel plate with thermal abs. The difference was day and night as far as heat reduction in the cabin goes. I particularly appreciate this in the hot Southern Californian summers!
