Welcome. I would say that if you have the means to pick up a C5Z, I would go that route, but it all depends on what you like. If you don't want a vert or targa, and you prefer 6sp to manual...C5Z is the obvious choice.
Plenty of good deals on used bolt-ons in the parts section. I would recommend a CAI and some LT's, and then just enjoy the car until you want to go to H/C or FI...if you even go down that path.
On my second 2002Z. Get one! My son is a Marine too. 0311 3F6 Hes coming home for 10 days after about an 8 month deployment....we cant wait to see him! Semper Fi & thak you for your commitment to our country.
I come from the land of the Blue Oval, having said that, I can tell you if you're looking for a car that you can really drive, the Z06 is the answer.
There's really so much to offer, but I'll put it simply. From the first time you drive the car you'll notice that it does a much better job communicating the conditions back to the driver, and a great job putting the power to use. The biggest suprise is 26MPG on the freeway, 18MPG city!!!
