Default Auto trans update, what year?
Sorry for the basic question; no luck with Search or The Google. What year did the C5 replace the 4-speed auto? Was it a 5-
or 6-speed auto?

As far as I know, ... the C5 (except the C5Z) had the 4 speed Auto tranny. The added gears to the Auto started of the C6 models (except the C6Z). I believe they offered a 6 speed paddle shifter too.

I have a late 2004 build and the auto tranny is 4 speed.

same 4 speed auto tranny throughout the entire C5 run.


I believe the C6 in 2005 had the same; then the A6 appeared in 2006 ???

Ah I see, thanks. I recently read about tranny changes on the C6 and got it confused with C5.
