....can the C5 be driven with the center console, radio bezel and left knee bolster removed? The reason I'm asking is that I plan to perform some mods and install a DD stereo unit. I would like to only remove the units once, however once I have the painted or carbon pieces removed, I would like to keep them off until after I install the DD unit. However the stereo shop I am working with is 30 minutes away. Instead of reinstalling the components twice, I would like to reinstall them only once.
I think it may explode when driving, better not do it.
Seriously this is a question that you should have been able to figure out by yourself.

To the OP, it won't hurt anything to drive it without those parts........and the only dumb question is one that's not asked!
Everyone on this forum has asked for help for one thing or another and I've often said to my wife that if I have a problem with stuff, someone on the forum will know the answer! Sometimes it doesn't even have to do with Vettes. There is ALOT of knowledge here, you should never feel bad for asking!

Thanks! I had a mid-80s Camaro that had a bad radio. When it was time to install an aftermarket unit, I removed the center console and there was a connecting wire to the rear hatch. When I disconnected the wire to remove the center console, the car would not start after the console and receiving end of the plug was removed as the after-market alarm system sensed that the hatch was open. Stupid/silly, unexpected stuff like that is why I asked the question. Plus, I never have taken my C5 interior apart before and since I will be removing the center console and shifter/radio bezel, I wanted to make sure there weren't any surprises.

Make sure you place a towel down over the area where the center console was. I learned the hard way. There is some black sticky icky adhesive that stained my sleeves. I was going through everything trying to figure out where it came frm

Is the adhesive used for the center console? Do I need to reapply any adhesive or is this the stuff they use to keep the carpet tacked down?
As mentioned, when I do this, I only want to take of the components once. I also want to swap out my shifter/boot and E-Brake/boot when I remove the console.

I think it keeps that padding/mat stuff down that is under the center console. Not too clear on it, but you don't need to do anything special with it. Just place your center console back down over it and bolt it back down. I've had mine off on two occasions.
Another thing to watch for is, the fuel door release and the traction control connections. I drove my vette with the above mentioned parts, but had to use the emergency trunk release for the fuel door for a week or two and drove with traction control dis-connected.
I had to drive mine last year when my parts were being done in carbon fiber. I won't hurt anything but it's more comfortable with the console by your side.
i did this for about 2 weeks. when i sent mine of to CaCorvetteCustoms.. only problem i found was the gas door button is in the console. simple fix, paper clip... complete the circuit and vwalla "Pop" goes the gas door
