I've read tons and I know there are a lot of difference opinions about this, but with my specific set up- intake, ported Tbody, LG LT's, high flow cats, TI. Looking to just do the cam at first (I know heads would help, but doing this step by step). So, besides the Cam and springs and maybe a new Chain, shouldn't need anything else (I think). What would be a nice cam (need to keep very streetable)? I've heard a 224/224 114 LSA would be nice.
Thanks Gentlemen....
OH, and I'll be doing this job myself. I've learned tons by doing all the work to the car thus far by myself, so this will be no different.
I just did some more research the other day. I'm also a big fan of the G5X3 114, it's what I plan to run if/when I jump into the cam upgrade.
You're going to need several gaskets (front seal, water pump, timing cover etc). And since the factory harmonic balancer comes off, at a minimum you'll need a new GM bolt for it, but many recommend an aftermarket underdrive pulley and an ARP reusable bolt.
Also consider:
- pinning your crank
- two-piece timing cover.
- oil pump upgrade

Thank you for your comments. Do you know who makes LG's cams? Oh, and I'm confused on the two-piece timing cover?
