I saw their is a new turbo kit coming out from Halltech that is supposed to have 700 hp not sure if its at the wheels.
I personally looked at the cost factor, and reliability..I had a pro charger on a 95 Firehawk, it worked flawless and made great power...I believe the total cost will make sense for me, and if i cant be happy with 575+ HP, well, i'll just get more :blueangel:
Consider this: EVERY auto manufacturer in the WORLD who offers a supercharged or turbocharged car lowers the compression to between 8-8.75 to 1. Why? Reliability. I've been the supercharger route before, as have many others, and many of us learned the hard way, it works fantastically, but you have to do the proper modifications for it to last.
The big names in reliable engine modifications do too, Lingenfelter and Calloway come to mind.
LT1GMC -- I basically concur with you. I'm very tempted to opt in on a local GP for the ATI procharger but leery of running it with the Z's 10.5:1 compression ratio. Do you think that if I stuck wiith the smaller 5 lb boost pulley it would hold together? The car won't be run in competition.
MIB, our local, just put down aound 580 rwhp...............@ 10.5 boost.
With puter gramming, he's expecting another 50/75..............
So, over 600 @ r wheels..........not too shabby huh???
We did get 578rwhp and 546.6rwt BEFORE the final computer tune and that was only at 5400rpm.
I'm looking at a mini-tub and 12" wide HRE 541's for the rear now. I'd like to have some traction.
Proper precautions were taken to avoid engine failure. The heads were ported and the combustion chamber was increased by 10cc's to 73cc's. This lowered the compression and allows us to run 10.5lbs. We will probably back off that much boost just to be safe though. We'll see
