What this?
I have owned many C3 and C4 over the years so this is my first C5 and just looking at it sitting in the garage makes me like it better then any other Vette I have owned. Tomorrow night will be the first time I will get to drive it so I'm very excited!!!!
Okay here is the question that you are waiting for. I order and just received a copy of my window sticker/built sheet and as I look over what items is in the car I notice items that I don't have a clue what they are;
1. Continuously Variable Real Time Damping.
2. Compact Disc Player, Remote (I know what that is, it is a 12 pack CD player that is in the trunk area but what I'm not sure of is it say remote? I didn't receive any remote with the car when I bought it.
3. Analog Ultraviolet Lit Cluster w/driver information center (is that the info that is under the speed dials?).
4. Remote Function Actuation RFA system (I wondering if that is the door opener which I didn't received).
5. Pass-Key II Theft Deterrent System with Horn Alarm (or is this the door opener that I didn't receive?).
I'm bringing the car to the local dealer on Saturday so they can make me an extra key and program a door opener for me.
On my 94 and 96 Corvette I had a keyless entry (just by walking towards the car the doors would unlock as long as I had the key in my pocket) does the C5 have that also?
Total cost on the car in 1998 was $48,914.00
F45 suspension do you have a 3 position selector switch on the center consule?
Fancy way to say drivers information center standard
Pass key is the key with sensor standard.
key fob you need the old style one with the passive open like your c4 pricey shop around.
Keep the paper work special car.
Best of Luck and buy the 3 volume shop manual for your model year.
Check out GM parts house.com for good price and service
2. I believe the "remote" they are referring to is the fact that you control the changer from the radio head unit
3. Yes, this is the DIC located below your speedo/tach
4. That's the FOB that unlocks/locks the doors
5. PassKey is the chip in the key. The alarm is controlled through the DIC.
Yes, the early C5's had the passive function on the FOB to unlock/lock the doors. I always have mine turned off.
Also, dont waste your money on a 98 - FOB with the passive feature - not worth the trouble or extra $$$$
You can save yourself some cash if you buy a FOB for a 99 to 00 Vette.
It works, I use one on my 98 Coupe, I keep the original FOB as a spare.
The 99 to 2000 - FOBS do not have the Passive Button - but no one uses that anyways.

2. Remote probably means that it is controlled from the head unit itself, but it is located in the trunk. Mine had this too, but I just took it out because nowdays you can fit so much music on other media sources.
3. DIC is the message screen under the speedo and tach.
4. RFA refers to the receiver and fobs.
5. Refers to the alarm system.
6. Yours being a '98 does have the old passive style RFA system. the '01-'04 had the newer updated version that eliminated the passive feature. If you like that it is cool, but most people find it to just be an annoyance. I never really cared for my doors locking and unlocking while I was messing around in the yard. Of course you can turn the feature off with the switch on the fob or in the DIC to I think. The older passive style remotes also have alot of problems. I had these myself and eventually upgraded to an '01-'04 system. You can swap the receiver and all out in one shot. Mine works a whole lot better since I did that
Sounds like a nice car you have. Enjoy it
