Got the car out for the first time this year and took it for a ride. No radio on just me and the car cruising at 65 mph on a back road windows up very low rpms.
I hear something like static and pin point it to the headliner behind the passenger seat. When I touch the headliner in that spot the sound stops. It seems to me that the headliner fabric is rubbing/moving making this annoying noise. What comprises a C5 headliner? Will GM fix this under my extended warranty so I don't have to ride around with my finger touching the headliner? Did something come unglued? It has 23,000 miles and I am the original owner.
my headliner made some noise to, it comes and goes. I took the back of it down, and there is plastic egg crate stuff up there, and mine had come unglued in some spots. I took some old shirts and put them up there and all is good so far.
Im full aware of this. The plastic egg crating up there squeaks and rubs against the rock hard assembly glue they used from the factory. 2 ways to get rid of the noise. Get some rubber carpet under padding , remove the plastic crating , get some good ole rtv silicone glue down the under padding then silicone the plastic to the top of the rubber. You just need a rubber barrier between the plastic and the headliner. Other choice is, remove plastic egg crating, silicone down some styrofoam, or that sound deadener styrofoam instead and throw out the plastic.
