Default Got Hawk HP+ installed. I have a question...

So I got Hawk HP+ installed and had a brake flush with Motul RBF600. I followed the bedding instructions on the Hawk website and on the box (the pads came in). But I have a question, the site/box say, "don't drag the brakes"!

Does that mean I can never drag the brakes? or only during the bedding period?

You don't want to drag them during the bedding period due to heat, you don't want to burn them up.

I just installed Hawk HP+ pads, ATE Rotors, ATE Super Blue Fluid and Goodrich SS lines.

The HP+ pads are definitely not as grabby cold as the stocks... but man when they get warm it is a big difference. I can already tell they dust much worse than the stock pads. Oh well.

^^^Nice setup. I'd like to get SS lines eventually.

I noticed during bedding the ABS kicks in a lot earlier. So the brakes are a lot more grabby.

I noticed this as well. In fact... I didn't know we had an "ABS Active" message until this weekend during the bedding process. On the track, I guess "Active Handling" overrides that message because I never noticed it even though I know I was engaging ABS.

After a while you get use to the HP+'s and they just feel like normal brakes. They may sqeal at low speed sometimes. But after you roast them at a track day, they get the message and STFU for a while.

Yes I’m noticing some squeal from them. But I don’t mind.
Hahahahaha…. That’s funny.

Same here next Friday, I’m going to Calabogie Motorsports race track. Hopefully it won’t be snowing, this is Canada after all.

By the way, how did you guys bed the brakes?
I used the following procedure:

I didn't drag the brakes, as per instructions on the box/website.
1. 10 stops from 35mph with moderate pressure
2. 6 stops from 50mph with hard stops
3. stopped the car didn't drive it for 15 mins.
4. Drove home and parked the car for the night.

I don't remember, it's been a while. But I do know that when you make the stops, you are not supposed to come to a complete stop. That can cause an uneven transfer of pad onto the rotor and cause vibration.
