Default C5 Hatchback Paint Ripples

I have an 02 Mag Red C5 with 35K on it. I have had this terrific car for about 4 years and is a weekend car, left in the garage covered.

Yesterday I used it and notice the paint on the hatchback by the rear fender seems to be rippling. It is about 2" up from the edge. It was 100+ here yesterday and today.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

Thanks

Some kind of paint problem that was caused by primer, I think. You can try the dealer, but most likely you're going to have to shell out for a body shop to repair.

Here is some info that was posted on the forum a while back:

Condition

Some customers may comment that the paint is blistering around the rear hatch. Refer to the area shown in the illustration above.

Cause

An insulator material between the inner and outer panel may be leeching through the outer panel causing it to blister.

Correction

Replace the Rear Hatch. Refer to SI Document ID #657265.

Thanks

Don't know if this will still be covered under warranty since the car is 7 years old. But, what a car.
