Question on Supra vs. Corvette power
Anyone know why this is the case?
Second their block is built stronger from the factory so they dump all their mod money into the turbo and fuel systems needed. If you forge the bottom end and run good fuel we can make that power as well.

On the other hand there are plenty of 1000+ hp Vettes out there.
Just a guess.

At those levels of boost on the Supra they do not last long, just look up Boost Logic Supra's out of Austin Texas, SW has several and his Black one is a 7 second and 246 mph at the standing mile

Really, it comes down to 2 things. Money, and how much "street" you are willing to give up to run that high. Sure, my truck is street legal -- it even smogs with the right tune in it.
Do I consider it a safe all weather vehicle?
Hell no.
Do I drive it on the street?
Yes... when its running.
Do I think 1000rwhp is way too much?
Yes, definitely. I will never build a car for street duty with that much again. In fact, I'm retooling the truck to have less for normal duty. Hell 800 is probably way too much.
How much boost will it take?
around 22psi
How can your engine handle that?
the old setup (408) was 8.6:1 compression, and I run methanol (oh and 93 octane! Take that supras!!)
If you really want your vette to run that much hp it can be done and can be street legal, but just like those supras, you probably won't drive around with the same tune and setup that hit those dyno numbers. Not if you want to enjoy driving it around...
