Since it was near new, I've just used compressed air to blow out debris and a damp microfiber towel to keep everything wiped down. Occasionally I pull the FRCs and with an absorbent rag ensure any dirt and grease are wiped clean.
On some of the plastics, I've used Zaino Clear Seal after I'm done doing the finish with the applicator already soaked with CS. The silicone sealer (CS) does an excellent job on the plastics to keep them new.

If you keep it clean, it pretty much stays looking good. If you bought it used and you want to get it back to near new, you might need a hose but be careful of the electical.
I live in Florida and when I take my beach drives, I suck up a lot of sand off the road that makes it's way into the engine bay. Like the above poster pointed out, an air compressor really helps me clean out the sand. I then use my Adams (or any other high end car cleanning product) to wipe down the engine components, etc. Looks like new and stays looking like new!
I use a combination of superblue on all the black rubber and plastic, glass cleaner on the chrome and mothers polish on the stainless. I usually use detail spray between cleanings to keep the shine.

This car came in the shop last week for a new interior. Car was pretty dirty on the outside and inside so we popped the hood and snapped this pic. Owner came back later and loved his new interior...we gave him some cleaning tips.

I used a little Simple Green on a rag to keep mine clean, along with compressed air and a general wipe down with a damp Absorber. I did buy my car new which helped.

I wipe it down with a damp cloth everytime I wash her, and add some 303 Aerospace protectant to all the underhood rubber stuff... Once a year or so I apply some Zaino Z-5 to the painted pieces...
