Would someone please help me. Stranded, column lock!
I know there is a sticky but I don't have time to read 50+ pages. My car is shut down in a damn parking lot at night! I don't want to leave my car outside all night in an industrial area. Not thrilled about a tow bill either.

When I start the car I get the Column Lock message and the car shuts down after 2 mph. Column is not locked though, only fuel shut off.
What should I do??!!!!

Just an update. I found a local shop (C5ALIVE) that is going to perform the CLB today. Having the car towed over shortly.
You may also want to have your shop change the fuel cut off from 2mph to 200+ mph. I have seen C5's with the CLB installed still have the fuel cut off issue.
You dont have to get it towed or disconnect the battery. Id post the link but I cant get into the tech articles anymore. For a temporary fix, all you have to do is jerk the steering wheel back and forth really hard, with the key out of the ignition, about 4 or 5 times, then start the car and it should release the column lock. Ive done this before so I know it does work. Id still recommend getting the colum lock bypass installed asap though.

My steering wheel is not locked. The fuel shut off is the only problem. Any ideas??
There are a lot of possibilities that could be behind your fuel shutoff but they depend upon what has been done to the Column Lock system previously. The cause is that the BCM has sent an unlock signal to the Actuator or CLB if that was already installed and the BCM did NOT get back the signal that it wants in a quick enough time frame (30 milliseconds) As a result the BCM thinks the column is locked and hence sends a signal to the PCM to enable the fuel shutoff.
THe Actuator microswitch may have failed, the CLB if one is installed may have failed, one or more of the fuses involved in the system may have blown, the battery may be weak, electrical connections to the battery and or grounds may be corroded, K Harness may have failed if one is installed. etc, etc.
You can check a few things easily. Fuses 9, 13, 19, 22, 23, 25, 47, and 50 are part of the electricals that could have blown.. Measured with a digital voltmeter across the battery posts the voltage needs to be at least 12.6 with the engine off. Don't bother with the dash gages readings as they are not accurate. Check battery cable connections to see that they are clean, bright and tight.
The remainder of the things can be checked but you need to remove the knee bolster on the drivers side to get access to where the other components are located. If you want to do that send me a PM and I will send you details of what else you need to do.
Wow, thanks for the informative reply. I will give this a shot before I have the car towed.

It sounds like your vehicle has had all three steps of the recall procedure done. The fuel cutoff reprogram occurred at recall B, C removed the lock plate. FYI A installed a new harness.
Just order the CLB takes 30 minutes to install. During the process clear the DTC codes and you should be fine. You need to clear the codes.
On the passengers side floor board fuse box, reinstall fuse #25 and then turn the car off and remove the key. Pause a few seconds and then reinsert the key and turn it to the ON position. Check the Drivers Information Console (DIC) for any abnormal error messages.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT do this.
I did it and destroyed the roller bearing in the steering column on the dash side of the column. Very expensive fix.
