Default active handling problem

my 02 a4 vert just started displaying " ACTIVE HANDLING " on the DIC.
It comes on at random times and the car seems to jerk when it happens.
I just finished a 400 mile trip and here are the codes .

LDCM 3 codes 2282 2284 and 1064
RDCM 3 codes 2283 2285 and 1064

all codes are H as in History

The battery was just replaced a month ago 'cause it died after sitting for too many months .

Got any ideas ????

I'll send you to this thread for a lot more detailed info...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-accident.html

What's happening is one of the sensors used by the Active Handling system is "starting" to fail. Usually it's the steering wheel position sensor, or maybe the yaw rate sensor.

Often these sensors might error only slightly, the result of which is the triggering of the normal Active Handling function (like what you're experiencing), but yet not throwing bad enough results to toss an error code.

Chances are, it will become progressively worse until such time a "Service Active Handling" warning message appears, which means an actual trouble code has been thrown...and only then will you know which sensor is the culprit.

In the meantime, it's a guessing game.

And edit: the door control module history codes you indicated are completely unrelated.

You will have trouble determining exactly what is wrong as long as the car doesn't throw a code. However, this can be caused by an alignment problem. It won't hurt to get the alignment checked. Make sure the tech makes sure the settings are at service preferred with no tolerance Vs just being in Spec. In Spec means the alignment could be almost anywhere.

When you list the codes make sure you list the preceding letter as that tells where to look for the code.

Default Active Handling problem

Thanks y2kvert4me -

It sure sounds like I have a sensor going bad , guess I'll leave it turned off till it throws a code . Sure is scary when it activates and hits the brakes !
The thread you send explained a lot . For awhile there I thought I was the only one with this weird problem .
