Gene. what are the differences between the 03 ZO6, 04 Z06 and the newer C6ZO6 shocks?? I have heard newer 05 up shocks are longer, will this effect anything on a 03ZO6??? Thanks.
Gene will give you more details, but I believe that the only difference is the valving in the shock. The length should be the same. I have the C6 Z shock on my 02Z and they fit and work just fine. No mods necessary for installation
The C6 shocks are 3/8" longer than the C5. Vehicles vary but the C6 shock can raise the ride height very slightly , as would be expected . But if you use the C5 rubber mounting bushings , which are slightly thinner in the C6 installation , this will offset the ride height difference. I've swapped the C6 shocks on all three (3) of my C5s ( two FRC, one Z06) with no problem
That's a subjective issue. Depends on one (1) what driving style, two (2) and what your definintion of better performance or overall performance.
So MY impressions are that the '04 Z06 shocks are tighter, slightly stiffer or harsher ride but gave a very solid feel. The C6 Z06 ( '06 and late '07) were similar but not to the same degree in stiffness as the '04 Z06.
The two (2) FRC cars have Goodyear F1 EMT and the Z06 has OEM Goodyear FI Supercar tires.
Honestly, as dealers, we don't get any details on what part changes are. Only the development team would have the notes to support the claim. Obviously the guess it the valving in the shocks.
Most of my customers who have tried both the 04 and the 08 Z06 shocks tell me they couldn't tell a difference between the two. This is the first time I've heard someone noticed a difference.
