How's the buffing coming along? It took me a long time to get mine buffed, I ended up buying a Buffing kit from Sears that had three buffing wheels and four small compound sticks. I used Black, Brown and finally White after sanding with 400 then 1,500 grit paper. Like you I took a Dremel w/sanding drum and rounded off the outer edges.
I like where you're thinking of placing yours, I stuck mine on the normal spot.... I'm boring, what can I say?

Dermel used green stone to round and #6 blue stick high polish, and clear coated.
