Use the trickle charger and let the neighbor drive it every couple of weeks. That is as long as you trust him with the car.

Thanks everybody for all the good advise. I was given a Vector VEC080 Float Mode Charger/Maintainer. I've decided to add the Stabil, remove cable, connect the Vector, over inflate the tires and a box of mothballs under the hood and hope for the best.

I say store it and you can leave the trickle charger hooked up. Also you could have you neighbor come by to check on it if you wanted.

I've stored my car for 8 years and disconnect the negative battery terminal. It has always started the first time in the spring after sitting for nearly 6 months.

We leave Iowa every winter for 3-4 months. I use a battery tender and when I return, it fires right up and down the road I go! It'll be fine and you won't have to worry about it!

The worse thing you can do is let a car of any sort sit and rot! Have a trusted friend fire it up and drive it a bit, circulate those lubes and dry out any moisture!

Default Store it or drive it

Storing it with proper precautions--battery tender/minder, fresh oil in the car and circulated, on jackstands with wheels off if you're really ****, is probably best. If you do let the man drive it, PLEASE make sure he knows how very low and easily damaged those cars are if he goes up an angled driveway, hits a pothole or curb, etc. It would make me very nervous to let someone not familiar with C5s just take off in mine. Good luck

Yes, but you are not likely to pull a honda into a parking spot with a bumper and destroy the front end or air damn, nor are you likely to paralell park a honda and road rash the rims, nor are you likely to park a honda in a spot with a vacant spot in front of you and come back to see that a women (sorry, could be any driver) has backed an SUV over your front end, nor are you likely to make any number of a myriad of mistakes that involve "acceleration quite outside the normal driving experience" in a honda. . . .you get the idea.

BTW, Ive let a bunch of people drive my car but I have been aboard every time. Wouldnt think of just handing the keys to someone who hasnt had a check ride, or letting just about anyone drive it without me on a regular basis.

For the OP: Dont sweat it. Put it on a triclke charger and go with a clear head. If you are worried about the car, take the battery out and leave that on a trickel charger (just make sure you have theft lock disabled on your radio (not enabled by default) or you know the code before you leave it without a battery, so you can enter it when you put the battery back in). Other than that, you reset the clock, radio stations and seat/memory positions. The PCM will relearn the mixture and whatnot after 40 miles I think (this is pretty transparent to you, the car runs, it just runs better at wot after the pcm has that much data). Although I didnt notice how long you are gonna be gone for, six months and under is nothing. You want to be extra careful, drive it up onto a set of wheel savers (if you are worrying about flatsideing the wheels).

They are like pads that you park on. The bottom is flat and the top is cup shaped (same size as tire). I dont know if I would bother with them, just read a few posts on storing long term and guys mentioned them. Think I saw them on one of the vette accessory sites, they were red plastic and about the size of a floor tile.
