I installed my Koni's that have been sitting in the garage for about 1.5 yrs. yesterday. Thanks, McRat, for the instructions, that I didn't think I'd use, until I needed to. The first side took about 3 hrs., and the second side took about 45 min. One thing to note. I used the stock dust covers which don't fit w/o a slight mod. Just drill the hole out to 7/16" and they'll fit perfectly. I also did not use the furnished bushings, as my originals looked good, and their fitment was better. I don't track the car, so my initial impressions were "no big deal". However, after driving around some more, and finding broken pavement areas, some high speed sweepers that have bumps, I am impressed. Alot less harshness on impacts, and better control on bumpy corners. One other thing to note, although my car has been lowered to the max on bolts, and trimmed bushings, it rides higher now, about a 1/2". Maybe it'll settle a bit given time. Don't know if they're worth the extra $$ over Bilsteins, but I do like them.
Good job, great review. I suppose to install these yesterday but unfortunately swapped exhaust cat back with forum member, so i spent whaole day yesterday dealing with catback and also deleted cats by straight pipe. So its late now and tired but i have a feeling i might start in next 2 hrs.
I bought used but they were on other car for only 2k miles and he sold the vette, so its pretty much new and i already painted semi gloss hight temp paint.
Have seen few good feedback about these and personally recommeded by chip (CCA), he himself have these shocks and he swears its a better buy.
Iam also lowered on stock bolts and was curious about car height after koni, i dont mind if its raised by 1/2".
these shocks are not gas charged, so it had to be your springs loaded up when vette was on the lift. it should go down a little. unless you bought the koni sports, those are charged and it will go up. koni fsd's are fantastic! i luv 'em!

Honestly, I have a hard time believing this. Without some form of gas charge, I would think the risk of cavitation in the shock would be high? What I would have an easier time believing is that the gas charge is lower than other shocks.

Just used a jack and stand, my neck still hurts. I noticed the Konis were MUCH easier to hand compress than the stockers, and their rebound was different, too. Installed, they really help the harshness over typical broken pavement.
