Default Trouble with 12 Disc CD Player

Hi Guys. Hoping to get some help/suggestions here. I have an '03 coupe with the 12 disc CD player in the rear cargo area. I tried playing some discs the other day, and when I hit the button on the radio up front, nothing happens. Tried pulling the cartridge out of the unit and reinserting it. Hit the play button again, and it begins to shuffle/cycle through the discs, but won't play. Any ideas? Suggestions? I'm in Tallahassee, FL. Does anyone know of any good car audio shops in the area? Appreciate any advice in advance. Thanks.

Make sure that your discs are facing in the right direction. They may seem "upside-down" to you when they are in correctly.

Make sure each plastic layer is locked in correctly and that each disc is perfect in the embedded circle.

Insert the cartridge when the car is off and make sure the lid is slid shut. Once it is in the discs should start counting in, turn the ignition on and push the aux. button.

I have had a few problems now and again, but I usually get everything the way it needs to be if I follow this procedure. Some things you just can't explain...

I agree with Tricep - all good advise. If that doesn't take care of it there is a reset button(hole) on the top of the CD player. You'll need a paperclip or other small wire to reset the player. With key on - push the reset switch and see if that doesn't fix you problems. I've had this trouble when I disconnected the battery.
Good Luck!

Hi Vector. Well, I looked, but can find no reset switch anywhere on the unit. Am I missing something? Thanks.

There is a small hole on the top left corner of the unit - above the cassette opening. That is the reset button/hole. I do have an older unit but I believe it is on later models as well. give it another look. If you can not find it send me a private message and I will send you a pic of mine.

I agree it sounds as though the disks are in upside down. Be sure and check this first. Once you take the cartridge out and place it back in it takes about two or three minutes for the unit to cycle the disks. Let the unit finish this function before you try to play. If that doesn't work pull the plug under the right side of the unit and re-seat it. It might be loose. It will still have to go through the cycle process.

I had the same problem. None of the easy fixes worked. Turned out to be a jammed cd (not in the cartridge). Removed the changer from the bracket (6 screws) then removed the outer case (6 screws). Used my finger to jiggle the cd until it moved freely. Reassembled...works like new!
