OK im new to vettes, im a camaro guy and after doing headers on my camaro i started running all sort of lean and then rich codes even after headers, im probably going to get a z06, if I do headers do you guys have any problems, or is there anything else that usually throws codes that I should look out for? thanks
Have headers on my 02 Z06 along with a dyno tune. No problems at all. Look for a tuner familiar with the Corvette. Only problem you will have at the beginning is the 02 sensors. Get the Z06 and enjoy. You will not regret it.

I too have headers and cats installed. Also paid a pro for a quality tune and my car does not throw codes and idles like stock.
Also, a good time to have some codes removed from the system so they don't show up (1-4 Shift light) if you have the CAGS defeated.
I would go all out 1 7/8 with 3" catted X pipe and spend extra cash and get ARH system, callaway honker CAI and definetly tune, i drove 2-3k miles after headers, Vararam and 160 stat with no problems, except P0420/P0430 codes which dont effect performance and they are for rear O2 sensors which u can disable even while driving car.
Now got i Diablo tuner, and my car was running lean so added some fuel and set FAN settings and iam good to go.

Although there are a lot of folks that do headers and drive without a tune, it's really not getting the benefit of your money already invested. You will get some codes. Tuners such as ECS and Chuck Cow offer mail-in tunes if a qualified Corvette shop is not close. There always has been a positive response here on their work. Put em on, get it tuned and have fun.........

PS...Header manufacturers will help on size, such as the one that already posted here.
Im a cheapass and i got the 1 7/8 ARH with 3 " X no cats.. Spend the money for a good product that wont fall apart. Fit perfect. If you want cheap dont get a vette.
I have had the OBX Headers on my Z since Oct. of last year, and they havent fallen apart yet!. The fit was good, only issue on the install, was the tunnel plate. Should I add, its my Daily Driver Too. The Hp gains where great, considering the headers were only 650 dolars.
but thats like a grand difference whats honestly the difference going to be in hp
My bolt-on package made 382 HP on a conservative Mustang dyno. (This is approximately equivalent to 420 HP on a Dynojet.) Most bolt-ons are in the 385 HP(Dynojet) or slightly better range.
Good luck with whatever route you choose.
Watch for the p0133 and p0135 codes (lots of posts concerning these two) as well with the addition of aftermarket long tubes. Those are the "heater" codes involving the front O2 sensors. Pain in the BUTT codes that also do not affect driveability, but are irritating in that they illuminate a CEL...
Based on your planned mods - I would go with the 1 3/4" LT headers. Lots of good options for the C5. I use ARH and am very happy. The tune will maximize the performance gains, ensure stock like idle and no codes. Complete your Profile so we can recommend some good tuners in your area.
Never heard of them. If you're looking for a good Corvette tuner in the NJ area - check out our forum vendors: ECS, Cartek and Vette Doctors (I believe there are a couple others too).
