Nagasaki and Hiroshima would also still be habitable.

You can thank Hirohito for that one. He was warned. The whole country was warned. They persisted. Even after the first bomb was dropped, they persisted. Nope, the responsibility for Nagasaki and Hiroshima is Japan's alone. Hirohito was willing to sacrifice 20 million Japanese lives. And hundreds of thousands more of allied lives in the process of defeating them. Truman saved untold countless lives by dropping those bombs.

Sad thing is,you talk like this was the right decision. Hmm yeah no other solution but drop a bomb that kills thousands and leaves a large part of the environment uninhabitable. Real good decision our president and military made there.

It was absolutely the right decision that saved hundreds of thousands and perhaps even millions more lives than it took. This conversation belongs in Off Topic P&C. Meet me over there and I'll give you an education.

I think the 20,000+ men that died on the Bataan Death March and death camps and the hundreds of thousands of Chines that where killed in cold blood would be on your side but Hirohito did want to surrender, the Generals on the other hand wanted to fight to the death.

My close call was right after I graduated from college. I took a job selling home improvements and one warm friday evening I got into my car after an appointment only to see about seven 20 something guys form a line across the street blocking my path. At that time I had a Mazda MX6 turbo (I loved that car) so I got in, honked my horn twice and when the punks didn't move I floored it. It is amazing how fast people can move when a car is flying towards them at 60 MPH

Like what? Of facts and historical accuracy? Try it sometime instead of getting all your news and perspective from Jon Stewart sometime. Enlightenment is a beautiful thing.

A related story...... I worked in downtown Birmingham, Alabama back in the mid to late 80's. "Dude" came up to me while I was locking the gate where our vehicles were kept and TOLD me I was going to give him a ride to somewhere. My 73 Cuda was sitting there running with the door open and he was between me and the car! I kept talking and keeping an eye on him while I locked the gate and kept cool. When it locked, I put a move on him and bolted to get between him and my car and jumped into the drivers seat. He then tried to enter into the back seat and wound up with my Smith .357 magnum pointed at his head. He looked and saw the silver tip hollow points along with the large bore and bolted! All I saw was elbows and the bottom of his tennis shoes......

Not sure how long afterwards, about half a block from the first location, the street was 3 lanes wide and, I was sitting at a red light at 2 AM. That thing held forever! A lady of the night walked out of the shadows on the passenger side of my car and asked me if I wanted a date. Told her loudly "NO" and looked at the other side of the street and didn't see anyone. Grabbed the trusty ole magnum and was just holding it in my hand while "the lady" kept talking and trying to make a sale. I glanced back to the drivers side of the street and out of no where was a "dude" dropping off of the curb in my blind spot headed right toward me. I pulled the magnum up and pointed it at the prostitute and told him I would cap her a$$. She saw the gun and screamed. He froze, she tried to run in her high heels and then he busted a move the hell away from me. A few seconds later the light turned and I smoked the tires getting the heck out of there.

That piece saved me several times from being a victim. Had to pull the trigger on it one time. Long story. Wound up in court dealing with some crack heads which was a tremendous hassle but, I'm still around today to tell those stories and I also still have a gun permit and would not hesitate to use one again if put in the situation.
You knew you were being set up --and still you waited for a green light --thats the funniest part If i sense danger i get the fark outa dodge before sheet has a chance to happen

See you can insult me like that all you want. Truth is I'm very educated on historical facts. I could probably school you on some things as well. I don't watch Jon Stewart or any idiot like him for that matter.

And yet another village idiot who only knows violence.

Again violence and ignorance go hand in hand.

You are fairly ignorant in your own right. Notice your original insult got deleted, and i'm sure it's only a matter of time before this entire thread gets locked.

Guys, bunch of posts already got deleted because of this guy (mine included). Perhaps a ban is in his future I don't know. But it's probably best to take it elsewhere.

Hence my suggestion that it belongs in CFOT P&R But he won't go there. Instead, he resorts to name calling. Lance is some joker, all right!

This is why I stopped and apologized(which got deleted as well) to the OP a few posts ago. But the shots continued to come at me.
