About 6 weeks ago my poor Z got pummeled with hail. Took out the back window, chipped up the front window and put a fist sized crack in the stock hood. Well, rather than have the stock hood repaired I added a bit to the insurance money and had an ACI functional cowl induction hood installed. I'm thrilled with how it turned out! Very cool now looking out over the scoop.

looks good,
but how are cowl hood functional on Vettes?
I have a Vararam, trying to how it would benefit me if any
The hood has a provision for a tunnel with screens at the windshield side of the hood. Then there's a kit you get from ACI for another $300 that has the tunnel and a new airbox lid. The tunnel opening and the new air box lid have openings that mate when you close the hood. You can hear the intake at the opening by the windshield when you punch it. Idea is to suck colder air from the winshield area, instead of off the hot road. The folks who installed it were able to save and reuse my stock hood liner. We did have to play a little with the alignment to get it right, and they had to shave a little of the lip on the driver's side so that the wiper arm would clear. But it turned out very cool. I'm really happy.
