Rev Limiter?

Does the rev limiter work in 5th gear? I've seen people post pictures here on the forum with the HUD showing 175 to 177mph. That speed would be over the 6600rpm limiter with stock gearing. So I was just wondering if the limiter works in 5th gear?

With tuning the rev limiter can be raised.

Yep! Bump the limiter to 6800, slightly taller tires, and a long straight road can equal around 180

would 6800 be safe on a stock engine?

I wouldn't push it. Especally holding it at that rpm for an extended period of time. Not unless you have some hardened pushrods/good valvesprings.

I set my limiter to 6700, and set my shift light to 6500 so i don't bounce the limiter at the track. I have hit that limiter several times when it was at 6500 and i know this car makes power right up to it so i don't want to shift early.
