I have a 99 FRC, all stock aside from a Hooker catback. It actually sounds decent, believe it or not. I am hoping to 'wake' it up a little, I love the tone just want it to be a little louder.
I know with alot of other cars going with a midpipe with no cats is your best bet. Ive looked into some of the x pipes available, seems everyone goes that route to get rid of the 'motor boat' sound.
To get to my point, how much louder will it be with an aftermarket midpipe vs the stock h pipe?
Wish I could afford to swap the headers, have a very meager budget at this point.
I installed the Hooker catback on my 99 stock vert, the system does sound petty decent (really don't like the tips). I had a lot of popping on deceleration and drone in 6th gear on the highway so I installed a Borla x pipe. It reduced the popping and the motor boat sound but not the drone. I'm now in the process of doing the exhaust bypass on my stock catback and will see how that sounds as its the drone that bothers me the most. If that fails it may GHL catback in the future.
