Escort 8500
I am about to hardwire my passport 8500 radar detector into my 2002 Z.
I've seen several posts on this subject, both indicating the connections are in different places. One indicated that there were hardwire points behind the passenger side kick panels, the other indicated there were some under the passenger side footwell carpeting.
I don't want to dismantel the car to find the connection points.
Where should I start looking? :confused:

I understand it is UNDER the passengers FEET............( carpet will have to come up)

All you have to do is fold over the floormat and removed the passengers footwell kick panel,,,,,,its a solid one piece panel with carpet on it,,,,,,,,then you will see the computer on the left and the fuse box on the right,,,,,just above the computer toward the upper left corner there are three wires, orange, yellow, and black,,,,,,,
black = ground
orange = 12v constant
yellow = 12v switched (active when ignition is turned on)
hook the wires up to the black and yellow,,,,,,,,replace the footwell panel and fold back over the floormat,,,,,,,,then youre all set

Sorry to take this a little off topic, as I have not hardwired mine, but I am interested as to where you mount your detector? I'm not sure whether to mount mine on the dash or up on the visor or off the rearview mirror (although I heard a *rumour* {and hence could be totally untrue, so don't try it because I mentioned it!} that you can tap into the auto-dim power supply lines that go into the mirror there)

I found a spot, just to the left of the rear view mirror, that looks pretty good.
You gotta get low enough to miss the window tinting or I guess there could be a problem.
