Anyone used this product? I went out and purchased the paste wax, the speed shine and the liquid wax in preparation of a Sat shine. Then I read on the Ford Lightning forum (yea, I own one) that most of the guys hate the stuff. They mostly complain that it's oily and very difficult to remove. So, anyone tried it? I'll send it right to the trash bin before I slop a bunch of hard to shine polish on my '01 Z.

It goes on by feel because you can't see it. Saved mine for the Wife's wagon, after 2 years in a closed cabinet it looks more like ginger ale now than gin when new.

I use the Turtle Wax Ice on my DD civic and used it once on the vette since I couldn’t get it in to my detail buddy. If you apply too much then it is tougher to get off. A little goes a long way with that stuff. On the Civic being out in the elements all the time two coats lasts just about 4 months. On the vette I did notice that it gives it a nice shine though.
When the initial infomercial was out a long time ago, I bought some of it (Ice). Tried it once. I only did a little of the car, it's still in the box. Absolutely hated it. I agree with oily and difficult to get off, leaves a slimy finish. My favorite is Ibiz products. Leaves a great shine, very easy to use and smells good, too.
I used Ice on my BMW and wasn't very happy with it. The only redeeming quality I could find was that it is transparent. Therefore, using you it on/around your moldings and seals was no big deal.
I've never used their wax products (on ls1tech that stuff is referred to as the crack cocaine of wax) but I have used their "chemical clay bar" right before I used the Mother's clay bar.
The ice smells good, who knows if I got any extra residue off compared to just a standard clay bar..... In the end it's the last time I buy something called "ice" unless I start living in a trailer park.

Hey striper take a look at it and tell us if it's since turned yellow? They did have an initial ad campaign that sold a lot of product, heck I bought it. I did my very badly oxidized Cousin's Expedition and it turned out just OK. I should have used "color back" or a similar abrasive product. I did notice it made the black vinyl pieces (running boards, etc.) nice and black but there was no way to buff it off the pebble finish so we left it alone.
There was no comparison to my well Zaino'd MSG GXP in the trucks reflection!
I agree about the Zaino.I think it is the best, but I like products that are readily available that are almost as good.
Here's what I do to "Wax" all my cars every 3 months.
1:Wash with Dawn in hot water.
2:Clay with Mothers.
3:Wash again in dawn to remove any clay residue.
4: Meguires NXT Tech wax.
5:Final seal with Meguires Ultimate Quik Detailer.
I top off every weekly wash with the detailer and use Black Magic Titanium Matte tire finish. It gives a rich,low-gloss look.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'll try the Ice out on the painted portion of the outside mirrors just to check it out but it sounds like I'll go back to a more conventional waxing process. Thanks again for the advice, It's great having everyone on the forum!
This is kind of funny...I was out of Zaino, and I needed something in a hurry, I bought the Ice...Used it on Friday and it turned out great, did all the paint, mouldings, windows, etc..It's a bit difficult to remove, just use 2 towels, one to take off the polish and another to go over it again to get rid of the oily residue, its not as bad as it sounds...Oh, and don't even bother with the little towel that comes with it, its too small
Not really sure what you guys are doing different than me. I love the Ice product. If you put it on with the applicator dampened, like the directions suggest, then let it dry for 10-15 minutes, followed by buffing with a microfiber towel, the results are excellent. Its no harder to remove than any carnuba I've ever used.... actually easier. One I'm finished waxing, I follow up with the Ice detail sparay and it looks like glass.
Sure get a lot of different opinions but I suppose that's life in general. I'm going to try it on the painted portions of the side mirrors just to see if I like it. I'll let you know how it turns out as soon as I get around to doing it. I'm waiting till I take the Z in for new rubber in a few weeks, until then she's just sitting in the garage under the cover.
Those last pic's are why i love Corvette's : they all look great!

Heres some results
I agree it gives an excellent shine and is much quicker to apply and remove than anything else I have used. It does a great job on the black plastic pieces like the Zs brake ducts. Most other polishes leave a white residue on them while ICE just makes then shine. Sort of like using an instant detailer product that lasts longer. Works great on the windows and you really don't have to be careful applying it as anyplace it isn't supposed to be it just doesn't show. Slap it on and wipe off.

I see what you guys are saying about the slimy-ness of the ICE product. I used it to bring the life back to the paint in a friends engine compartment. He has a 94 Supra that we are throwing a fully built/FI motor in, so while the engine compartment was empty I washed it down, detailed the accessories, and put a coat of the ICE polish on the paint to bring it back. Worked great because it doesnt matter if you get some on unintended peices. Looks like the engine compartment was just sprayed yesterday - not 15 years ago...
Moral of the story - I think it is a good product if you are using it on places a regular (better) polish has difficulties. For my exteriors I stick with Adams Detailing products....
