Default Removing Airbox Lid

Just put a Z06 airbox lid on my coupe. Had me puzzled for a bit as to how to remove the lid, even though I had the complete Z06 airbox in front of me. The airbox kinda straddles the open hood, some of it is in the engine compartment, and some of it is in the gap between the open hood and the front bumper. I even got down on the floor at one point thinking you had to reach up from underneath, but that is all sealed up. Finallly got on here and searched and found some directions on how to do it. Thanks to those who posted them.

The part that had me confused was my thinking the posts that the grommets in the airbox lid sits on were screwed into the radiator shroud facing the opposite direction, and you had to push the lid up and toward the front of the car, away from the shroud, to pop it off them.

The posts are actually pointing towards the rear of the car, and you just wedge your hands down inbetween the outer surface of the lid and let's call it the rear face of the front bumper structure that the posts screw into, and the lid pops right off the posts. Think of the airbox lid being attached to the backside of the front bumper, not the shroud.

Actually the whole airbox design is pretty ingenious. The filter is very easy to change compared to a lot of German cars I have wrestled with, in spite of the low sleek profile of the Vette, and tight quarters under the hood.

Anyhow, just thought I'd post this so it might help someone else figure out how to do this. It's actually very easy once you understand how it works.

Thanks, that's my next project. The forum is amazing for help from fellow Vette owners.
