OK since I have had the pleasure of removing and replacing the entire drivetrain of the car twice, I was curious as to what other people thought were the hardest parts of working on the vette were.

Here is my list starting with the worst. Now mind you this is just my opinion and it is also from the vantage point of doing all the work in my driveway with no lift. Thank God for my compressor.

1. Passenger side header and starter - I need another set of hands and I have been hit in the head more then once by flying starter bolts. LOL
2. O2 sensors and tunnel plate - I always have to loosen up the header as I forget this step
3. Power steering bracket- All but one bolt needs an open end wrench. Toss the socket out on this one.
4. Rear ground on cylinder head - Can you say braille
5. Ground under passenger side header - Need smaller hands
6. Drivers side back header bolt - I am a contortionist

Well there is my top six. I just got the new motor started up and running so I thought I would post this up. If you have any shortcuts please advise as I am sure others could use the info.

Well I have not done major deconstruction like you. My hardest was trying to replace the AC tensioner on my 99 A4.......I tried every way I could think of for several hours. I don't have a lift, just ramps. I finally gave up and paid a local dealer to do it. The Sales Mgr. had quoted me "about $80". Well it took the GM Tech 3 hours !!! and they billed me for 3 hours ! I called for the Service Mgr and remined him of his "Quote of about $80"......he thought for awhile and then stuck with the $80 cost........;^)

Took me a while to do this, but I replaced both tensioners at once along with both belts. I think I was out there about 2 hours, no jacks or getting under the car. I'm pretty sure I did everything from the top

The worst for me was probably dropping my midpipe to do some work on it in the driveway on jackstands. Actually dropping it wasn't that bad. Putting it back in was AWFUL.

Headers= 3 hours, no sweat
AC tensioner pulley= 1/2 hour, no probs
Laying the CF on a targa top= OMFG! Over 7 weeks!
I'll take mechanical work anyday, and twice on Sunday. Usually twice cause I forgot something the first time.

I'll let you know when I get around to installing my headers.
