What year C5 would have black exhaust pipe tips? I see a set on ebay but the tips have been painted or just came that way. I wonder if they are painted to hide something, but they look OK in the pictures.
2) Always ask the seller what condition they're in regardless of the description. Ask for more pictures and specifically ask is there any damage, dents, dings, rust, or deformities to the item. If they lie to you, they'll catch a **** storm with Ebay if you want to raise hell.
3) If it's cost you're after, I swear by my Borla Catback. Straight pipes are nice and loud, got a nice little bump in HP/TQ, and are cheap as hell. Plus they came with chrome tips.

Thanks for the help.
1997 through 2000 had black tips. Then in 2001 through 2004 they had polished tips.
But why would you want stock exhaust? Very few people want them. If your really determined to have them I bet if you go to the parts for sale section and ask, you could get a set pretty cheap. I would recomend a set of Z06 titainium exhaust. They are more free flowing have polished tips and are very light. If you look around most sets of ti's are going for $300 to $500. Someday I want to get a set to replace my stock exhaust.

Thanks. Yes I wanted a set to play with. Yes I wanted a less expensive set, H@!! yes I want cheap!
I figure a little welding, alittle playing here and there. WHo knows, necessity is the mother of invention.
Anyway thanks for the tip. I do want a little more lurggle in the in the sound. I'll post a WTB on the FS section. I also want to keep my stock pipes in case of resale. My garage has housed beany babies and barbie stuff for years. Even a barbie C4 corvette. I figure it can store vet parts if I want to.
thanks again everyone for responding, This is an interesting place to visit.

I don't think you could call those tips. Looks like GM just opted for straight pipes off the mufflers. My '00 came with the black "tips" and the first mod I did was to slap on some Corsa SS tips. Then came the entire pace car set up and that remained until I recently replaced it with a Ti system.
