What is the best bra?
I've heard plenty of rumors about bras scratching the paint, but is that only on custom paint? I know southern car parts sells a nylon stretch bra that wont scratch. I'm not crazy about the look of it though, and it seems a bit thin. I want to get a nice looking one with some clear plastic or screen cutouts, but im not sure which ones to stay away from. some suggestions would be appreciated.

SPEED LINGERIE...probably the most expensive, but has a lifetime warranty, available with mirror covers, available in colors, unique tongue in groove attachment which insures no flapping at speed, triple layer protection. There are clear covers over the lens/emblems, optional front plate delete, and nylon mesh over the air intake openings/brake ducts. I've taken direct hits from steel reinforced "alligators" with no damage. I have mine on all the time.
I've had it for three years now. There will be no damage to the paint if you use common sense and follow the manufacturers recommendations about installing only over a clean surface and periodically removing it to clean dust beneath...
The nylon "stretch" bra is great for bugs and easy packing away in the trunk. It will not protect against rock chips though. For that, you need a thick marine grade vinyl (no leather bra is offered).

I think the best is the GM bra. It fits right and is a great buy. You can pay alot more if you want but you won't be getting much more. They have 2 different ones. One has cutouts for the Z06 screen areas. I just use the normal one. You just have to be aware of what may get behind it. Any bra will scratch paint if you let it get grit behind it. I only use mine for extended or highway use. Hope that helps.

I prefer no bra myself.
Dust can get under the bra, then while you're driving the wind causes the bra to flap, scratching the paint underneath with that fine dust (not just custom paint).

I think Speed Lingerie has probably the best fitting bra on the market.
I have a Victory Red one on my '05 Vert and I get comments all the time about how good it looks. I had a GM bra on my C5. When I sold my '02 C5 a couple of weeks ago the front end still looked almost new. It had 27 k miles and most of those were highway miles on long trips with the Bra in place. No bra damage whatsoever!
One thing I always do is spray some spray wax on the area of front end to be covered by the bra just a few minutes before installing the bra and letting the spray wax dry. I then install the bra over the unbuffed wax. This keeps the front of your car looking like new.
When I first bought my '05 in early '08 I bought a GM bra for it but it would not fit because the connector straps had to go thru the grille opening and my car had the aftermarket mesh grille. I sold the GM bra on here and purchased the Speed Lingerie bra new.
The best thing I like about the S/L bra is the mesh screen which covers the grille opening thereby catching all the bugs that would normally end up plugging your radiator fins.
I saw a S/L bra in silver for sale in the "C6 parts for sale" section this morning if anyone has a silver car and is in the market for one. I think the seller also has the matching mirror covers. I have a set of those also and I really like them.
The S/L bra cleans very easily as it is not porous like many other bras.
I use Aerospace 303 spray cleaner. Just a few quick squirts and some quick wipes with a detail rag and the S/L bra looks like new again even during our "Love Bug" season.
Good Luck finding a bra for your car!

I like the clear ones made by 3M.
They are installed by a professional and you can't tell anything is on your car. Not only the front bumper/hood, you can put them on the mirrors, by the wheel wells/tires and under he door handles to prevent finger nail scratches.
Most major cities have a few installers to choose from. Expect to spend around $1000 but it's the only way to go in my opinion.

thanks for the replies. i think i might go with the GM bra (non-z06). now does it have screens over the brake duct areas? all of them also have the clear plastic over the corner lights and fog light openings right?

The GM Bra is very good. It holds up at high speeds and can take a lot of abuse. I had other ones that didn't last anywhere as long and didn't fasten on as well.
All bras are capable of damaging the paint. The constant rubbing in the breeze, dirt that gets under them that scratches the paint plus potential damage caused when they are wet and are bakng in the sun.
Due to the potential long term damage potential the only time I use my GM bra is on the track where it protects the nose of the car from the track turds thrown by other cars. I have had the car to 150 and the bra held fine.
