fishing line would work, then use "goof off" stuff to get any residue left off the paint.

The wheels look like HRE's.

Removing body side molding (BSM) is documented here and will try to find you a thread. You will need fishing line (20 lb test), gloves and a sticky remover (3M). Some use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the tape as you are sawing. Take the front fender piece off first to see if paint fade will leave a shadow in which case you will need to probably put it back on or paint the whole car.
The rims are HRE (www.hrewheels.com) and probably are in the $5000 a set range.
Good luck on the removal........

Only if the paint is faded would the paint job be necessary.....You could always put the BSM's back on.......

The funnah is that the car is sooo low the only thing the BSM could protect you from is a go-kart (if it had doors).
